Esports Is Making Its Entry On TV With ESPN And Disney XD In July
If you are fed up with the topic of esports, then it’s high time to get over it. Space is growing continuously, and slowly spreading towards the area of traditional media. It is spreading to a level, that recently Activision Blizzard made an announcement that the playoffs of Overwatch League will be broadcast on Disney XD and ESPN.
The Overwatch league is itself a huge step for esports, as it is the first ever city-focused league for a video game. However, earlier the esports league ha the privately owned teams with nothing related to real geography, Overwatch is becoming the first pro league that has city-based teams like The San Francisco Shock or The Dallas Fuel.
The teams are owned by big names of the conventional sports universe, like Owner of Boston Uprising, Robert Kraft, who is Owner & CEO, New England Patriots, and New York Mets’ COO, Jeff Wilpon, who is the owner of New York Excelsior.
The contract, which additionally has a highlights/recap package with the coverage of Grand finals of 2018 on July 29, the date is the first ever time that a live competitive gaming will be broadcasted on Disney XD and ESPN.
The playoff of Overwatch League will start tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, and will have its Grand Finale on July 27 and 28, in the Barclays Center, Brooklyn.
The grand finale of this competitive gaming is going to be the most awaited and hopefully appreciated T.V. broadcasting for an event of esports taking place in a single weekend, which includes 10 hours of streaming for 3 days over 4 networks.
The overall association with ESPN, ABC/Disney, and Blizzard demonstrate as a continued commitment to esports and we will soon be going to introduce marquee version of Overwatch League coverage on television for gaming fans and enthusiasts.
